Things have moved since I was last on here. I have now published a novel!!!
Yes I actually completed an 80k word novel of the exploits of a fictitious Stockport woman who met a guru and was swept off her feet by him. I self published as a Kindle novel in September then followed it with print versions in October, available from Lulu.com although the price of the print version bears no resemblance to the Kindle one so I recommend Kindle and despite the different in price I still get more profit from the electronic one.
And now I'm busy on the sequel so watch this space...
Having a gap year in my mid fifties to see if I have what it takes to be a writer. Watch this space!

May 2011
Well, I am still writing, and I am slowly building some confidence in writing the stuff I want to write. I am researching information towards a life coaching course, which is really what I went to Falmouth to do before I got pushed along the fiction route. In fact, it was only when talking to a friend that I realised that the college had not provided what I expected, so I have written for a refund. Actually I wrote at the beginning of February and I am still waiting for a decision, but at least it has gone to a senior member of staff.
So I'm back at the beginning, out of pocket and a bit wary of making another wrong step, but it's a learning curve. I'm still having a go at competitions and have a couple of novels bubbling away in the background although nothing enthuses me as life coaching does.
I went to the London Book Fair a few weeks ago, what a huge event! It's scary to think how many books there are out there, competing for the same customers. Still, if we don't write them, there will be nothing for all them people to sell, so we owe it to them to keep writing.
Good luck everyone

I passed!!!!!
Yay! I got 63 -65% on both my portfolios so I must be doing something right! I know they have to tell us something that's wrong with our work but the criticism does seem a little disheartening, still 63% is very respectable for a first term. It's a shame really I won't be going back for the rest of the year, but they've already told us that to get published you have to work damned hard at it, so I would rather do that than lots of exercises. I will post some of the work on my website www.suzeapple.co.uk
Hope you like it
