Well, the book of Call Centre Chaos has finally been unleashed on Amazon as an ebook! Yes, I finally finished the editing and formatting and the book is now available to buy and download, still for less than the price of a coffee. Get it here.
Matt can finally spring into action and everyone can now read his adventures with Mina, the would-be girlfriend, and the troublesome Krystal, who manages to get them all into a terrible mess. No-one expects the Vikings to come to their rescue but with help from a sympathetic IT man, a campervan and some willing accomplices, Matt tries his hardest to escape the call centre with his sanity and his limbs intact. I hope you enjoy reading this one as much as the others. It centres around a young man trying to get through days of boredom in a job he hates but has to do to keep himself solvent, just.
I like to write about ordinary, contemporary situations but I can't resist giving them a larger than life twist. This story stems from a combination of repetitive jobs I've had, plus some interview experiences and some frustratingly annoying people. A lot of it is based on real life and I hope it rings true for you readers.
Coming soon - Shooting in the Square, or was it? I've tried a different format for my next story, and it's a different kind of story. Not quite a whodunit and not really a straightforward story. It is going to be difficult selecting a genre on Amazon for this one. I'm editing it like mad and hope to have it out by the end of May. That's my target anyway because I want to start work on a family farce that's been simmering in my brain for months, and then finally I may get to the histotical drama that is on my ideas list. But one at a time. I find it difficult to keep more than one story in my head to work on. So, Shooting in the Square first.

Chaos
I can't believe it has been so long since I posted on here! I have been exceptionally lazy this last twelve months, but I never stopped writing, I don't think I can!
The title of the post relates to the title of the book I have been struggling with this year, although I alternate between carnage and chaos. I want to call it Call Centre Carnage but I feel that might give the wrong impression so chaos is more suitable, I think. It's a similarly light hearted book to my others but with a different set of characters. I wanted to try writing from the point of view of a different character, a young male, drawing on my observations of my son, grandson and local bartender. Maybe that's what has been my struggle. I have read books by male writers who never seem to quite 'get' the female approach and whose females feel two dimensional, so please let me know if my male characters come over like that. Maybe all my characters are like that, I have no idea as I've not had that much feedback, and quite frankly, I'm having too much fun writing these characters to worry about it. I have had lots of sweet comments from friends who do seem to like what I write, so that's good. I have lots of ideas for future stories, and I still have a part-edited, wish-fulfilment story to put up on Amazon but that might just be one for my own pleasure.
Right now it's coming up to another NaNo month and I'm flexing my muscles for the coming ordeal, I'm still recovering from the last one, which was where I started the Call Centre book. I am close to finishing it tho' and I am aiming for completion by the end of December so that should be fun.
I mentioned the other day to a friend that I 'had to' do something and she snorted in derision. As a stressed mum of two with more pressures than most, my pressure seems invisible, but as other writers will know, if we don't put the pressure on ourselves to complete an assignment, we find lots of ways not to complete it. I think writers must have the most strongly developed skill of procrastination than any other group.
So, the pressure is on, I will edit and publish Call Centre Chaos before Christmas, I will finish editing my Other Lives stories, the wish fulfilment novel, and I will complete November's NaNo challenge (NaNoWriMo for those who haven't encountered it before. Google it and you'll find out more.) It's the best way I know of getting the words down on paper, especially for those of us who are highly skilled in 'doing other things', as procrastination is otherwise known. You heard it here folks. I made a promise to you as well as to myself.

Book 3 House of Sunshine
My third book in the series about Sharon, a forty something woman from Stockport, is out now on the Amazon Kindle store!!!!! It's priced at £1.80 and is called House of Sunshine.
It follows Sharon in America a few months after Christmas at the end of the second book, Good Men and Mavericks. After a few weeks on Grand Cayman they are in a Winnebago, broken down in a trailer park near Chicago. The trip takes a surprising turn. Tom, ever resourceful, comes up with a plan that at first seems great but soon everything changes and Sharon has to make a decision about what she wants.
I've had great fun writing it and I hope you enjoy reading it. If you do tell everyone, enough downloads and I will be able to write more.

Book 3
It's been quite a while since I wrote on here but I've not dropped off the face of the earth, although sometimes I could do with somewhere just as quiet! No, I've been wrestling with the third episode in the Adventures of Sharon. I suppose that will make it a trilogy but I hesitate to use that word for my collection of stories. It seems a little ambitious to call mine that as the success of a certain erotic trilogy takes over the book world. I think there's hardly anywhere that hasn't heard of the books now. Not that I'm jealous of her massive success, no, it encourages me to think that something that would probably have been criticised by a writing tutor for all kinds of stuff has proved that you can make lots of money without being a literary masterpiece.
So, back to book 3. I'm nearly finished and am wrestling with the ending, which is why I'm on here blogging instead of getting down to work! It seems to have been a bit more intense to write it, although I have tried to include lots of humorous notes into it so that it is still a happy book to read. This time round Sharon is in America although her trip doesn't go according to plan. Surprising that, isn't it? (If you've read the first two you'll know why I say that!) I don't want to tell too much of the story but the last one ended as she was certain about Tom and they were happily together. I wanted her to have a happy ending after the doubt of book 1 but it still left some unfinished business and I hope this third book answers those questions.
It should be out by the beginning of September. At least, that's what I'm aiming for. It will be on Amazon first as an ebook and I will make an announcement on my website. I hope you'll like it.
And now, no more procrastinating, I must return to wrestling with my last two chapters to make sure there is a book to read.
Happy reading meanwhile!

My second novel is out now!
The sequel to Oh Sh**! is now available as an ebook on Amazon! It is called Good Men and Mavericks and is the story of what came next for Sharon after she was sued by Swami.
She has been employed at the house on the Isle of Man by the new tenant who is running it as a guest house. She loves it there despite being treated badly by the woman. After one last insult she finally throws in her toilet brush and heads back to Manchester, to her friend Ronnie. Of course, nothing is straightforward and on her travels she receives a marriage proposal, a cheque and a dilemma.
Many of the characters from the first book return, but everything has changed and new characters bring in new perspectives to change the direction of the story.
I hope you like it, please let me know if you do.

2012 already!
I can't believe that we're already into 2012, in fact, that January is nearly over so soon. My first novel was published last September and is doing well so far. I've nearly finished the sequel and that will be out soon. I am wrestling with the ending now but I promise it will be a happy ending this time! I think my heroine has been through enough troubles and deserves to find her happiness now.
Hope you like it.

November 2011
Things have moved since I was last on here. I have now published a novel!!!
Yes I actually completed an 80k word novel of the exploits of a fictitious Stockport woman who met a guru and was swept off her feet by him. I self published as a Kindle novel in September then followed it with print versions in October, available from Lulu.com although the price of the print version bears no resemblance to the Kindle one so I recommend Kindle and despite the different in price I still get more profit from the electronic one.
And now I'm busy on the sequel so watch this space...
